Freezing temperatures can be one of the most common issues that customers may face with Fresh Water Delivery Systems (more specifically the fresh water pump). Once the water system’s pump is activated, there’s always a chance that some residual water ‘may’ be left in the filter. If the temperatures drop below freezing, the leftover water expands and the pumps can crack!
That’s why we’ve put together this short, simple, how-to video. We’re going to show you how easy it is to make sure your equipment stays in proper working order, no matter how cold it gets in your area of service.
Steps to Fresh Water Pump Winterizing
- Remove cap from FWDS Pump
- Use a screwdriver (flat or phillips head) to open hose plug and pump filter
- Drain fresh water pump filter as much as possible
- Place filter and hose plug back into place, and lock using a screwdriver
- Replace cap
It’s really that simple!
These pumps, although relatively affordable, are commonly damaged due to freezing and cracking. Each replaced pump costs you money. Make sure that you have your operators follow these easy steps. It will keep your equipment going, and to save you money on repairs.
